Boys golf continues winning ways against Venice

Matthew Dugan – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS boys’ golf team beat the Venice Indians Thursday at Mist Creek Golf Course. The team was victorious 157 to 160.

Captain Drew Angelo, junior, led the way with a score of 38, and the rest of the team was only a few strokes behind.

Although both teams didn’t play their best, the Mustangs were glad to get some experience out on a new golf course. In just a few weeks, the team will be headed to the district championship tournament, again on Misty Creek.

Coach John Victor said, “Win or lose, I’m glad we got to play out here. The team needs to gain some knowledge on the layout out here so we are well ready to go low in districts.”

Now with some experience under their belts, the team is excited to attempt another district champion in October.
