Jonathan Barker – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The newest subscription based service to satisfy the needs of moviegoers everywhere is Moviepass, and Mustangs are on the wave.
For a monthly flat rate of $9.95, viewers are given a Moviepass card, which grants access to one movie per day at theaters. The majority of theaters nationwide currently accept the system.
LRHS junior Maddie Pierce is excited to try out this new service and save money.
“Who knows how much I spend at the movie theater on a monthly basis? With this I get to save money and have access to nearly every new movie released,” she said.
Many are unaware of the alternative to the $9 per seat movie ticket. Senior Jared Jordan was surprised such thing exists.
Jordan commented, “I’d be willing to try it out, but it sounds ridiculous that a theater would accept this, having the ability to watch 30 movies for $10 sounds like highway robbery.”
One of possible holdout to the service could be the AMC theater company. In a recent article for the Wall Street Journal, AMC was “concerned that Moviepass’ new price is unsustainable and risks lowering the value of going to the movies.”
Although facing possible problems in accessibility, the prospects of a $10 monthly pass to the movies is an ideal concept to many casual moviegoers and cinephiles alike.
