(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS juniors and seniors are sharpening their vocal skills to prepare for the 2017 All-State choir auditions.

The All-State choir is extremely elite, and is hosted by the Florida Vocal Association (FVA). Students wishing to participate in this prestigious event undertake the challenge of enhancing and fine tuning their vocal ability through practice assessments and videos during a two-week period.

This year’s auditions will take place on Sept. 18 and 19 for LRHS students. Sept. 18 will consist of a written exam focused solely on knowledge of theory and musicianship.  The next day will consist of a vocal audition focusing on tone and overall quality.

LRHS chorus members are diligently preparing under the careful instruction of the chorus director Giselle Panagiotakis.

The students are fully committed, excited, and are even putting in the extra hours during after school rehearsals.

“It’s a little stressful, but I feel like I’m learning so much already. ‘Mrs. P’ has really helped prepare us for the audition process,” said junior Julia Gennocro.

Junior Jessica Sbaschnik agreed, “I’m confident that with enough practice I’ll do great. I’m glad to have a teacher that is very involved in making sure each student is understanding the material.”
