Mustangs save over 100 lives

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Mustangs donated 132 pints of blood during last week’s school blood drive.

One Blood donor recruitment supervisor Janie Peticca wanted to make sure that the students who donated knew that their blood was going to good use.

“Each donation can save up to three lives,” she said.  “The blood your school donated will likely be transfused into a patient within 48 to 72 hours.”

LRHS blood drive coordinator and biology teacher Maria Whalen said Mustangs who missed out on donating will have other opportunities.  LRHS blood drives are scheduled for Nov. 2, Jan. 30, and April 4.

Whalen said being a part of a blood drive can be a fun and life changing experience.
