Mustang TV announcements take lots of work behind the camera

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS has many interesting and rewarding electives, including Television (TV) Production. Specifically, first period TV Production is in charge of producing the school’s news network Lakewood Live.

TV production consists of a news crew, a production crew, and a segment crew.

News crew jobs consist of two anchors, two camera people, a floor manager, a prompter, a switcher, audio, videotape recorder, computer graphics news slides, a production assistant, and a producer. TV Production teacher Bryon Stedman calls for crew around 8:20 a.m., and it takes almost 20 minutes to produce the five-minute show.

Production crews are in charge of producing commercials, Personal Service Announcements, bumpers, and pledges. These students have about five days to produce. Further, segment crews are in charge of producing segments for Lakewood Live, such as weather, sports, clubs, QOTD, and more.

Anchors for Lakewood Live need to audition to be on the show, while anyone in TV Production can be a talent for a segment.

All students in TV Production are required to tweet every day. Each student has a specific topic related to LRHS, such as boys’ basketball or girls’ soccer, and has to tweet updates daily.
