Ranch reflection – Career counseling

Ranch Reflections are articles written by students who want to share their experiences, thoughts, and concerns. This is a great opportunity for students to branch out beyond traditional news stories.

Felicia Jenkins – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – It was the start to my senior year, which meant college applications were on my mind. I knew the early application deadline was coming up fast, so I decided to visit LRHS college and career counselor Michelle Todoroff.

As I was walking to room 610, I was thinking about what I wanted for myself and for my future. When I walked in, Todoroff politely greeted me and told me to have a seat in her office.

She started by introducing herself. She also told me she was able to help with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarships, college applications and other post high school plans.

I introduced myself and told her all about how I wanted to be a veterinarian and wanted to attend Ohio State University.

She had lots of information to give me. She started by giving me veterinary clinics in the area that I could volunteer or work at.

I asked Todoroff, “What other colleges would you recommend that I apply to?”

She replied, “I would recommend applying to applying to University of Florida (UF) and Louisiana State University (LSU).”

I thanked her for her time to talk to me and she told me I could come back whenever I need help with any of my post high school plans.
