Taylor Jefferson – Mustangs ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Friday, Sept. 1 LRHS senior Abby Shilling brought music to Melissa Koehlinger’s Exceptional Student Education (ESE) class.
With the help of choir director Giselle Panagiotaki and drama teacher Roxanne Caravan, the ESE class got to enjoy music through the joy of karaoke. Schilling felt tat music is an amazing social development for the kids to express themselves.
“Shilling’s involvement stems from her love of music and desire to give back,” stated Koehlinger.
Many events have been put together for the ESE kids throughout the years.
“I believe we all have talents and it’s our duty to give back and use them to good and benefit others,” Shilling said, “It’s easy to make t-shirts or bake cookies for the chorus, but bringing music to these wonderful students can provide happiness not just for the choir but happiness that everyone deserves,” she added.
Shilling is not only a student at LRHS, but she is a passionate singer, figure skater and she has participated in the LRHS choir group throughout her entire high school career.
Shilling has lead the altos in beginners choir of her senior year, is an original member of the elite MustAng Capella group here at the school, currently leads the sopranos in intermediate women’s choir, and has served as the chorus treasurer.
