LRHS blood drive officials say the school year’s first blood drive was a success

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-  LRHS received over 100 blood donations for the first 2017-2018 Blood Drive, which took place on Thursday.

LRHS junior Hannah Sisson said she donated because it was an easy way to help others, “It was a great experience. I’m glad I got the opportunity to save lives.”

In addition, with the nation-wide news of the tragic Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas, many donors were motivated to reach out. Junior Adelia Delagarza was inspired to help because she wanted “to help other people who are in need and to help the situation in Houston.”

Junior Alexis Shwab commented, “At first I was really nervous because the initial prick hurt. Then they told me that the blood was going to help in Houston so that made it worth the brief pain.”

LRHS is scheduled to host three more blood drives this school year.
