Jacob Pipercic and Brady Roberts – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- After the game against Cape Coral Ida Baker High School was canceled due to weather, the LRHS varsity football team is ready to take on the Bayshore Bruins this Friday.

The Mustangs will finally be playing their first regular season game at home this Friday, Sep. 1.

LRHS junior Cooper Corley said, “I’ve worked a lot on my skill development over the summer and I’m finally ready to show what I can do in a game situation.”

LRHS head varsity football coach Mick Koczersut commented on not playing last week, “It’s always a shame not being able to play, but we play an outdoor sport and sometimes the weather doesn’t allow us to play. However, adversity is something we are used to by now.”

This is also technically the Bruins’ first game of the season.  Their first game was rained out at half time. They were leading at half time, but it wasn’t an official win.

The two teams haven’t played each other since 2015 when the Mustangs beat the Bruins by a score of 40-0. They didn’t play last year because the game got rained out.

“I’m really excited to get out there and play our first game of the season. We put in a lot of work over the summer and we are all ready for it to pay off and hopefully win our first game of the season,” said junior Drake Theriot.
