Mustangs join Key Club to serve

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- “I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.”   This is the pledge members of the LRHS Key Club make.

Key Club International is a high school organization sponsored by the adult version, Kiwanis International. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. High school Key Clubs perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.

Key Club International brings together all Key Club’s members’ efforts and energies into an area that makes an international impact through the Major Emphasis, “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” The Major Emphasis unites Key Clubs under the banner of service that deals with the most important part of our community, youth.

The LRHS Key Club meets from 2:15-2:45 p.m. every Tuesday in room 509. Events can be any day in the week in the afternoon. Members will be notified a week or more in advance when an event is coming up. You do not have to attend every event they have.

Members need 10 hours of service in Key Club each quarter to get a Key Club tassel for graduation. The club will keep track of all your hours and report them to the school for student transcripts.
