Lily Osborne – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The first blood drive of the year is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31 and many Mustangs are looking forward to it, with both excitement and anxiety.
Students must be at least 16 years old to give blood, so for some sophomores and juniors this is their first opportunity to participate in the drive.
Junior Harry Bond is one of the many students donating blood for the first time on Thursday,
“I’m really nervous about getting the needle stuck in me, but I know it’s for a good cause,” he said.
While many Mustangs are uneasy about the minimal pain from giving blood, other students are looking at the lighter side of things.
Senior Michael Cook thinks the rewards of giving blood easily outweigh any discomfort, “I get free food from it.”
The blood drive committee hopes to see many new faces ready to give on Thursday. All students 16 years old and above are encouraged to sign up at lunches.
