Got blood? Here’s a cup (not really as creepy as it sounds)

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The first blood drive of the 2017-2018 school year will take place Thursday Aug. 31 in the gym hallway. Mustangs can sign up to donate blood during lunch Aug. 29-30 in the cafeteria.

Students who donate blood will receive a free Tervis Tumbler from the sponsoring company, One Blood. This is a new hand-out instead of t-shirts that were distributed at last school year’s blood drives.

LRHS blood drive committee president Kaitlyn Crothers, senior, said, “I am very proud to be this year’s president. Last year I was vice-president with a good friend of mine that showed me the ins and outs of having a successful committee. I hope to offer many new ways of reaching out to our large student body to raise the number of donors.

“Last year was a success but I know that this year we can surpass all expectations. With a student body of at least two thousand students, we should have an average of 150 donors per drive.”
