LRHS FFA gets national recognition

Taylor Butler – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Lakewood Ranch Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter is paving a path to greatness as the club moves onto the national convention. At the convention, the national FFA organization will recognize the club as a three-star premier chapter, the highest rating a chapter can receive.

The chapter is bringing along six students to attend the strongest leadership and personal growth workshops of their FFA careers.  The six names for the members attending the national convention this year have not been released.

2017-18 LRHS FFA President Isabelle Chamness attended the national convention last year. “It was a very life-changing event and was very motivational, it was fun to connect with other chapters, too,” she said.

LRHS FFA member senior Cara Zeveney also attended the national convention last year, and said, “It was a great leadership experience!”

Two of the six students will do presentations, followed by a personal interview with a group of judges who will ask brief questions about the presentation. The LRHS FFA chapter is competing against nine other chapters in the nation.

Anyone interested in joining the FFA chapter can pick up an application from advisor Susan Grainger in room 507.
