(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- After a disappointing loss to Riverview in the “Kickoff Classic,” the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs football team looks to bounce back in their first regular season game of the year.

This Friday the Mustangs will head to Cape Coral to take on the Bulldogs of Ida Baker High School. Kickoff for the non-district game is set for 7:30 p.m.

Lakewood Ranch is 1-1 against the Bulldogs, and is looking to take the tiebreaker.

LRHS head varsity football coach Mick Koczersut said, “I am disappointed about how the score of last week’s game turned out, but we have to look ahead and get ready for IDA Baker.”

Koczersut also stated, “We are going to watch the film this week and evaluate what we need to do to be successful this week.”

This week will be a test for the Mustangs as they look to put their 2-7 season of last year behind them.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- A 41-6 Kickoff Classic loss to the Riverview Rams didn’t hurt the enthusiasm of the LRHS football fans, many of whom were enjoying their first game as high school students.

Freshman Tyson Meyer said, “My first high school football game experience is fun and is what I expected it to be.”

The crowd never stopped cheering and neither did Freshman Emily Spillman. She commented, “I am hopeful that we will win this game.”

Mother of Silver Stars dancer Marisa Skertich attended her first football game.

“The crowd is more packed than I expected and I’m having a great time,” she said.
