Marching Mustangs see some changes

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- There are a few changes to this year’s LRHS marching band program.  One of the biggest is the new requirement of having to participate in the marching band in order to be in a concert band.

This change was implemented for the “overall function of the program,” according to band director Ron Lambert. Lambert explained that it was a necessary move in order to make the LRHS music program more manageable for himself as the only director.

The total numbers of the concert bands didn’t change as drastically as some might have thought. The concert band is about 25 fewer members than last year, but it seems that the marching band’s total has increased instead of decreased.

This change has affected freshman the most. Freshman Gianna Hagopian had many concerns about joining band because she has other extracurricular activities, “It was super easy to figure out a way for me to balance it all, I just went to Mr. Lambert and we worked it out together. I knew I would regret not doing it and it looked like so much fun.”

Lambert said, “Now all there is to do is wait.  Everyone is now at the same level of commitment and making this move now is just setting it up for the future. This program is encouraging kids to go above and beyond.”
