(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The 2017 LRHS varsity football season starts Aug. 18.  The Mustangs host Sarasota Riverview at 7:30 in the Kickoff Classic.

Head coach Mick Koczersut has many expectations for this season.  He challenged players to meet their full potential with harder practices over the summer.

“We have been practicing to win and anticipate to improve each week and are getting excited to see the results,” he said.

Koczersut also commented, “Their ultimate goal this year is to win and the players are motivated for various reasons.”

It is still too early, but Mustangs hope for great results this year.

Senior quarterback Justin Curtis explained that he is ready to compete, and said the practices this summer were harder than last year’s.

Senior Jackson Dunlap said, “I’m ready to play and ready to win.”

The players feel good about having returning players on defense.  They have also welcomed the new varsity players to the team and look forward to seeing fans cheer them on at the preseason game next Friday.
