Who you callin’ chicken? Maybe LRHS FFA

Taylor Butler – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS FFA was recently approved for a grant that will fund the chapter’s new chicken coop and chickens.

The new chicken coop is an anticipated addition because it extends the learning of the chapter to poultry and how to show meat pen chickens.

The chapter gets the coop Monday, but they will get the chickens over summer and start learning and working with them next school year.

LRHS freshmen and agriculture student Tyler Searles is happy to get chickens at the school.

“I believe it will be a great learning experience and it will be nice to do something different and expand my horizons on other animals in the ag industry,” he said.

LRHS agriculture teacher and FFA adviser Janyel Taylor is excited to get a chicken coop, explaining that the classes and chapter now have another hands-on learning experience.
