Lauren Wood – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- As the 2016-2017 school year is ending, students are prepping and reflecting on their time spent here at the Ranch.
The seniors’ last full day was Friday, May 5, and many were nostalgic as they looked back on the past four years.
“I never thought the day would come,” stated senior Sam Jackson. “I just can’t believe graduation is actually here. Four years flies by quicker than you think.”
Senior Alison Sporer agreed.
“It’s hard to believe we’re graduating because it literally seems like yesterday when I walked through those doors for the first time, and now it’s gonna be the last,” she said.
However, freshman look forward to the future.
“I was really freaked out when I first got here, but now that I’ve met more people I feel more welcomed and at home,” said freshman Manoela dos Santos. “I really love it here and can’t wait to see what’s to come.”
Freshman Grant Schmid said, “Though I’m nervous now, I’m really excited to be a sophomore and know that I made it through my first year. My goals for next year are to take harder classes and make more friends.”
The ninth graders began their first ever End of Course (EOC) assessments a few weeks ago. Some students found them difficult to complete whereas others passed with ease.
Freshman John Girman took the Algebra 2 and Reading tests.
“My first EOCs were very easy, but they were also really tedious,” he said. “I was well-prepared for the test though so I’m curious to see how I scored.”
Finals will continue for students until May 31, the last day of school.
