New opportunities for public speaking Mustangs

Miranda Monroe – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS speech teacher Amanda Hargen has a new Debate 1 class for next year that will work with the Speech and Debate club, to give members more time to practice and prepare for tournaments every other day rather than once a week.

Students from all grades have signed up for the class next year, and Hargen wants people who are interested in the class to know, “you don’t have to be involved in the Speech and Debate club to get something out of the class. My goal for the class is to focus on practicing public speaking.”

The Speech and Debate Club officers for next year are Tayla Rosenthal as Historian, Izzie Uribe and Makenzie Horner will share the responsibilities as Co-Secretary/Treasurer, and Kyle McCann will be taking on the role of Vice President.

Senior William Moscone hands the club presidency to Bremen Clermont.

Clermont said, “The Debate class is going to bring us closer and more together as a team. We’re already signed up for traveling tournaments like one being hosted at University of Florida, which I am very pumped for.”
