(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)  – This year for the first time ever, LRHS had a boys volleyball tournament.

Ten teams made up of students of all grade levels competed in Tuesday night’s tournament.

The boys got to the gym at 5 p.m. and began warming up; the games began at 6 p.m., and lasted until 9 p.m.

“We Made This Team” won first place receiving a shirt, license plate, and a plaque.

Team captain Justin Muscara, senior, said, “It was cool to be the first team to win it.”

Team member Kodey Elliott, senior, joked, “They need to hire me at ihop because I was serving up pancakes all night.”

“The Sustangs” took second place, also receiving a shirt. Team captain Vincent Archibald, senior, said, “The tournament was great and everyone there had a lot of fun and stayed competitive.”

LRHS volleyball coach Perry Hankins said the night was very rewarding.

“It was a big success,” she said.  “There must have been close to 200 people there and we probably raised close to $1000.”
