(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Friday night the Varsity Lady Mustangs softball team defeated North Port 16-0 in their final home game of the regular season.

This game was also senior night and the team honored seven of their senior teammates: Mackenzie Meyer, Courtney Mclellan, Kaylee Misiti, Denali Schappacher, Maddy Yoder, Kinsey Goelz and Logan Newton.

Pitcher Newton did not allow a single run all night; there were only two hits and one strike out.

The Mustangs started off with an early lead thanks to Misiti, who hit a grounder in the first inning allowing Meyer to run home and get the first run.

In the fourth inning, the girls scored four runs off a home run hit by Goelz. Three others hit home runs Friday night, Newton, Yoder, and Freshman Avery Goelz.

The teams’ current record is 23-2. The next game for the Lady Mustangs will be the first round of district championship tournament, scheduled for 7 p.m., April 25 at Manatee High School.
