LRHS teachers remember prom stories

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Prom is known to be one of the most memorable and exciting experiences of high school. As LRHS students get excited and prepare for the LRHS 2017 Enchanted Forest Prom, LRHS teachers reflect on their own prom experiences.

Television Production teacher Bryon Stedman said, “I went to prom two times, my senior year and then as a freshman in collge because my girlfriend was a senior. I remember that the main topic of discussion at my prom was that a girl brought a 30 year old date. My favorite part of prom was that the next day all of my friends and I went to Kennywood, the local amusement park in Pittsburgh.”

Spanish teacher Jasmine Westerburger did not attend prom.

“I grew up in Aruba, which does not have a prom,” she said.  “However, I think prom is nice and worth going to, yet I wish it wasn’t so expensive and stressful. I think it can sometimes be overrated.”

Mustang baseball coach and reading teacher Ryan Kennedy said, “Prom was not as extravagant as it is now when I was in high school. It was in the gym, but it was fun.”

Anatomy teacher and coach Faust Delazzer had a very exciting prom experience.

“Prom was pretty cool, it was in a country club,” he said. “My favorite part of prom was that after I took my date to the airport and we took a helicopter ride over downtown Chicago. My wife is still jealous because she has never been in a helicopter. After the helicopter ride, we went bowling in our prom attire.”

English and creative writing teacher Tautum Temple also enjoyed her prom.

“I would definitely recommend going,” she said.  “It’s an experience that’s worth all of the stress and money.”
