Morgan Lingle – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) participated in the Withlacoochee State Forest in Inverness orienteering meet on Saturday Mar. 4. This meet was hosted by Crystal River High School and was the first time anyone had run a course on these grounds.
The Yellow Team placed second, with Kendyl Brahler bringing home an individual first place and Richie Fallacaro placing second for the men.
The Orange Team ended up fourth overall. Nick Limoncelli got an individual first place for the men, leading his nearest competition by almost 10 minutes.
The Green team placed first overall with James Pritchard with a third place for the men individually on the green course.
Lakewood Ranch JROTC won first overall.
LRHS JROTC instructor Lt. Col. Richard Roller said, “The team established themselves as strong competitors. It was a tough course but as a team there was a level of consistency across the board. I am pleased with the outcome and the individuals are learning every time they compete whether they complete the course or not.”
LRHS senior Barry Porter said, “I think the meet wen really well considering that no one had home court advantage and we still came out on top. Even though I got lost (on the new course) I still had a great time.”
