(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity basketball team’s season ended Friday at the Lakeland Civic Center with a 54-49 state semi-final loss to Tampa Sickles.
Fan buses drove home filled with heavy hearts but the loss still did not kill their Mustang pride.
“Despite the loss, I am still proud of the team for making it this far and all that they’ve accomplished this season. I enjoyed supporting the team through it all,” said senior Spencer Laney.
LRHS Junior Cade Wessel said, “It was tough watching our boys make it this far and then lose such a close game.”
LRHS senior and varsity basketball player Devin Twenty said, “I wish we had more time in the game, but we had a great season. I love the boys even when we aren’t on the court. I hope next year, our juniors have a great season. Go Mustangs!”
Senior varsity player Justin Muscara said, “We had a good season and we made this team.”
Varsity basketball coach Jeremy Schiller said, “We just want to thank all of our fans, administrators, and the community for supporting us. It’s been a historic run and we are extremely proud of this season. We are also very grateful for everything the 2017 class has done for our team.”
