LRHS robotics among the state’s tops

Michael Rogers – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS TSA robotics team is waiting to hear where they placed in the state finals on Friday, Feb. 17 in Tampa. The Mustangs placed in the top three in the final design contest, but the final results are still pending, and are expected to be in soon.

TSA technology teacher and robotics Coach Ben Long said, “We are not entirely sure how we did. We know we are in the top three because we were interviewed. An interview gives us a final three spot.”

Facing a tough competition with a vast fleet of robots, the Mustang squad gave an impressive performance. A notable star of the team that evening was Junior Chris Miller.

“Chris Miller was the brains behind the team,” said Coach Long with a sense of pride.

Miller said, “While we did not win the design award and move onto the world championships, the work from this year will set us up for success next year.”

Long said the robotics team looks forward to winning the state championship next season, “We just have to wait to next year for another win.”
