McKenzie Mazzella – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last Wednesday the LRHS Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps (JROTC) went through its annual JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) inspection.
This year two retired Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) from the 6th brigade in Georgia came down to Florida and inspected all of the JROTC programs in Manatee County.
For months the Mustang Battalion has been preparing for this day by briefing daily, studying, and practicing.
The day started with an enranks inspection through the whole battalion, followed by Platoon Drill, Color Guard presentation, Staff Briefing, the Continuous Improvement project brief, the Service Learning Project brief, and cadet and instructor portfolio interviews.
The Mustang Battalion was able to keep up with their success from last year by scoring a 97.25 out of a possible 100 points.
“We did a lot better than we thought we would, I’m very proud of how we did,” said Mustang JROTC battalion commander senior Jennifer Gaffers.
