Mustang boys ready for soccer playoffs

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The 2016-2017 boys soccer regular season has come to an end with a record of 14 wins, two losses, and one tie.

The top three games of the season were against Sarasota 7-0, Manatee 8-1, and Mariner 7-1.

Currently, the boys are ranked 31st in the nation, and second in the state for district 5A.

The top three scorers of the 2016-2017 season were junior Pablo Vargas Valencia with 15 goals, senior Ricky Yanez with 12 goals and senior Sam Stapleton-Jones with 10 goals.

Team captain Nate Ellis, senior, said, “We have worked all year for these games coming up. We had a great regular season, but it is time to focus on districts, regionals, and states. We are ready for what any team has to bring.”

The Mustangs will host Sarasota in the district semi-final at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
