(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustang varsity basketball team has had an outstanding season so far with a 16-2 record. The team has been ranked as high as #26 in the country at one point according to maxpreps.

“I think we’re going to win districts this year,” said senior Sam Hester, “and we have a real shot at winning states.”

The only two losses have been to out of state teams in a tournament this year. Peachtree Ridge from Suwanee, Georgia took down the mustangs 66-61 and Georgetown Prep 85-74.

The Mustangs are in class 8A and are 8-0 in their district.

The team has worked really hard and are being very consistent on their work ethic this year, according to coach Jeremy Schiller.

“They really deserve to be where they are,” Schiller said. “They’ve improved on being a team, they work together and care about each other, they’re a family. Although, they still need to improve on following the game plan.”
