(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Latin Club will be hosting a bagging party at 2:15p.m. Dec. 13 in room 570.
The volunteer project “Book and a Bag” will officially come to a close on Dec. 12 so the following Tuesday the Latin Club members can gather the bags that have been donated and fill them with the gifts and necessities that the Latin Club board members purchased.
Club vice president Julie Cotton said, “Since we will be donating the bags during the holidays and since we’ve partnered with the organization ‘Bag-Up the Love,’ the board decided to purchase necessities and gifts for the foster children.”
Members will fill each bag with a coloring book, pack of crayons, a large bottle of body wash, a large bottle of shampoo, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. The organization “Bag-Up the Love” has decided to supply them with stuffed animals and are packing postcards to put into the bags as well, which Bag-Up the Love will be dropping off during their board meeting on the sixth.
The Latin club has received over 50 bags thanks everyone who donated and wants them to know that they’ve helped make the holidays that much more amazing for a foster child.
Treasurer Mathew Estes said, “Please know that your generosity is recognized and that we are personally, as a club, moved by the amount of donations we have received since we’re a significantly small club and thus weren’t expecting this amount of enthusiasm we ended up receiving towards the project.”
President-elect Emily Miller further commented, “We will also have food, drinks, and music at the party to help perpetuate the holiday spirit.”
