(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS HOSA (Health Occupations) club is celebrating National HOSA Week. During this four-day week HOSA will mark each day with a designated theme.
Monday was medical day and members dressed up in scrubs and health occupations. Tuesday was health trivia day, Wednesday the members held a breakfast for facility and staff and Thursday is Veterans Appreciation Day, during which students can sign a “Thank You “note to a veteran.
Junior Brianna McLane is president of HOSA and is excited for the week.
“I feel HOSA week help to be a part of the health community without even being in HOSA just being involved in the community and talking part to help others is absolutely the best thing we can do in HOSA,” she said. “I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to take part in helping the community and informing everyone, and most importantly helping vets, and people in the medical field.”
HOSA week’s main goal is to inform and educate the student body about the organization.
“This event is just a stop on the way to regional competition,” she said, “where I am competing in first aid and rescue breathing where I look to get top three to move on to states.”
It is never too late to join HOSA. Interested Mustangs can contact club adviser and LRHS science teacher Maria Whalen’s room (412) with any questions and for applications.
