(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The Marching Mustangs will participate in Music Performance Assessments (MPAs) at Osceola High School and compete in the Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC) Regional Competition at Braden River High School on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Trumpet player Anthony Pistella, junior, stated, “Two performances are going to be tiring but a good bonding experience, especially if we get straight Superiors and Grand Champions.”

After performing on stage and sight reading for judges, those competing in MPAs receive a score of Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent, or Superior.

Once the Marching Mustangs have completed their MPAs they will travel to Braden River for a Regional competition.

LRHS hosts its own Regional Competition Nov. 5, an important performance because it’s the last chance for bands to receive a block score. The order of performances at finals is determined by the overall season’s scores, and Lakewood Ranch’s Regional Competition is the last opportunity to increase them.

LRHS band director Ron Lambert said, “Definitely from an endurance standpoint having to go from warming up, to stretching, to performing under pressure will help us at finals because that is an all day, two performance situation.”
