(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS girls are Manatee County swimming champions again.

Last night at the G.T. Bray Aquatic Center the Mustang swimmers competed against seven other schools to defend last year’s championship. The meet started at 3 p.m. and all swimmers had at least one event.

Girls team captain Courtney Chapin, senior, placed first in the 100-yard backstroke and second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Chapin said, “My 100 back was by far my best event of last night and the season.”

Boys team captain Riley Knutson, senior, set a personal best time in his 50-yard freestyle.  The Mustang boys team came in third with 12 swimmers competing.

Next up for the Mustang swimmers is the scheduled Tri-County Championships, which will determine who makes the District team.
