Sammy Kedziora – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Silver Stars Dance Team is already half-way through prepararing their second routine for national competition, scheduled for Feb. 3-5. The team will compete against other qualifying high school teams from around the world.
Their first practice was on Sept. 9 and they learned a lyrical dance signed under the jazz category. Kaylin Dalton, a dance teacher from Powerhouse Dance Company, is choreographing their routine along with coach Kourtney Kalahar.
The team has already completed and performed their Pom routine, a style of dance that is very sharp and strong with movements, has many distinct and visually appealing formation changes, and the dancers hold Poms in their hands.
This routine won the Silver Stars a first place title out of seven other schools in the area at United Dance Associaton’s (UDA’s) annual Dance Camp this summer. By winning first and obtaining many other awards at the camp, they qualified for National Dance Team Championships (NDTC) nationals in Feb. 2017.
This gave them much hope and determination to learn and perfect both of these routines for this year’s national championships.
