Samantha Marino – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Academic Team (A-Team) competed in their first meet of 2016 on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Braden River High School. Although the team did not place at the meet, their hopes are high for the remainder of year.

A-Team is a competitive team that participates in meets that test the knowledge of students under timed circumstances. Eighteen Mustangs are rotated through the three teams of four students that compete at each meet.

A-Team member Riley Murphy, senior, said, “The team is a lot of fun to participate on, even if you don’t feel that good at it.”

The team for the 2016-2017 school year is looking to improve their skills and learn new techniques for success in their competitions.

LRHS A-Team adviser and Social Science teacher Ben Hall said, “This year is going to be focused on developing the team since most of the students are freshman and sophomores. I expect that next year we will challenge for championship title and states.”

The team competes in their next meet on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Bayshore High School.
