(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Speech and Debate Club had its second official meeting of the school year Sept. 14.
The meeting went over future competition events members might want to register for, and those who have already decided what event they will participate in started researching and working on the material they will present at the tournament.
There are many different events to sign up for. Club president Will Moscone, senior, is considering participating in is extemporaneous speaking, where each student draws three topics on current issues, chooses one, and has thirty minutes to prepare a speech of a maximum length of seven minutes.
The LRHS Speech and Debate team is part of the National Forensic League and the National Catholic Forensic League, and its first possible tournament is on Oct. 1 at Tampa’s King High School.
Speech and Debate is accepting T-shirt designs from it’s members, and members will vote in a few weeks on which will be used.
