Abbey Shilling – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS is kicking off its annual Back-to-School-Night at 6:00 pm on Aug. 31. Parents of current Mustangs will have the opportunity to follow the schedule of their student, meet teachers and get a feel for the learning environment their child will be a part of during the school year.
However, along with this experience comes the same expectations that are held for Mustang students, namely promptness.
“[We] will not be adjusting the bell schedule to accommodate latecomers. The entire schedule will be completed by 7:20” said LRHS Spanish teacher and Back-to-School Night coordinator Valerie Finnegan.
The bell will ring for parents to move to first period at 5:55 p.m. Parents will have exactly five minutes to report to first period where the first period teacher will go through a short presentation. The bell at the end of first period will signal parents to move towards second period with five minutes to report there. In effort to help the parents find their way around LRHS students will be given the opportunity to color code maps of the school and write down the room numbers of their seven classes.
“Our hope is that parents maximize this opportunity to support their child’s academic success,” said assistant principal Dr. Melinda Lundy.
