Lilly Hodge– Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Spanish Club will hold its first meeting Friday, Aug. 26.
The meeting will take place after school in club adviser Lillian Martinez’s room (503).
Past and future members must attend the meeting, past and future students.
Club members must have taken, or are currently enrolled in, a Spanish class. There is a fee of $5 and students get a t-shirt.
The club meets every Friday after school. They play games like Spanish Scrabble to improve students speaking skills. They also watch movies, and have themed parties for different holidays. Students can learn how people celebrate holidays like Dia de los Muertos in Spanish-speaking countries.
At the end of the school year, the club sells bracelets made by artists in Nicaragua. The money raised is given back to the organization to create more jobs. The club also adopts a migrant family and donate clothes and items around Christmas time.
