“Individually I want to stand on podium for the top three this season,” stated Chapin.

Last year Chapin finished second in the 100-meter backstroke at the state competition.

Not only has Chapin been training for her goals this high school season, but she also has been spending her summer at the pool for a bigger reason.

“I’ve been training six days a week in and out of the water as Olympic trials have approached,” she said. “One thing my coach has me do is taper. Tapering will make me a faster swimmer and keep a fast pace in the water. I want to be an Olympic swimmer.”

Chapin will be touring Ohio University, Eastern Carolina, Florida Atlantic University and University of Florida this year as she decides where to take her swimming skills to the next level.
