Olivia Grant and Gabby Updegraff – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The start of any school year requires patience as classrooms and schedules get organized. The same applies for school buses, too, and proper paperwork can ease the process.
LRHS provides transportations via buses the for all eligible students.
This 2016-2017 school year there were about 2,400 Mustangs registered, including 600 incoming freshmen. The increased population means the potential for confusion as to which buses students should be on.
Students must complete the “Transportation Procedures and Registration” cards provided by the bus drivers. These forms help compile rosters of which students should be on which buses.
LRHS administrators are not directly involved with bus transportation, and any student requiring information should go to the webpage for Manatee county schools, where a bus route lookup can be found, or call 782-1287 for bus transportation information.
Kathy Beard, administrative assistant of the Manatee county transportation department, said “Student Registration cards serve an important role for the Transportation Department as well as the School District because we need to collect current and correct information on each student passenger.
“The reason these cards serve an important role is because the information is used for state census that relates to money coming back to the school district. The state census is a student count from each bus that is mandated twice a year,”
Once students know which buses they should be riding it is imperative that the registration cards be turned into the bus drivers as soon as possible, to avoid complications.
