(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the holidays approach, LRHS starts to get into the spirit of the season, especially history teacher Jake Sponsel’s students.
Every one of his six classes has adopted a needy child from the Angel Tree program. Angel Tree is a Salvation Army toy collection program giving gifts to the less fortunate. Donors “adopt” a child and try to gifts and cares for a happy holiday.
“I’m hoping our kids can learn that giving is much better than receiving, learning the importance of donating and the impact that they can make,” said Sponsel.
The LRHS Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting the school’s effort. Over 100 Angels have been given out to eight to ten classes and individuals who want to get involved.
The due date for all donations is Nov. 18.
