Mustangs consider shopping options

Lindsey Coleman and Devon Duran – LRHS News

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Black Friday has come and gone and Cyber Monday is here. Mustangs have definite preferences between the two.

According to the National Retail Federation, this year 139.4 million Black Friday shoppers spent $59.1-billion participating in sales across the U.S.

“I prefer Black Friday because you get to see people act crazy,” said LRHS sophomore Madi Locastro.

Sophomore Kyle Helm agrees that Black Friday is best “because you can’t get anything for sale on Cyber Monday.”

Freshman Amanda Burrus said, ” I like Black Friday because there is a lot more sales.”

On the other hand some Mustangs prefer to shop by clicking.

“I prefer Cyber Monday because your don’t have to deal with the crazy crowds,” said sophomore James Shaver.

Sophomore Mitch Turner said “I like Cyber Monday more, because you don’t have to wait in those long lines, like on Black Friday.”

Today is the final day for sales online so Mustangs can grab their computers and shop till they drop.

Progress reports coming soon

Kendall Wilson – LRHS News

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Mustangs better turn in all late assignments and take any tests because this week is progress reports. They will be distributed in seventh period , Dec. 3.

Progress reports show students how they are doing in their classes in the middle of the quarter.

Sophomore Courtney O’Brien said, “Progress reports don’t mean that much to me because I have focus, but it is important because my parents see it and it makes me work harder to pull my grades up for the end of the quarter.”

Sophomore Abby Mahon said, “I am not worried because I am confident I have good grades.”

Although progress reports aren’t final, teachers advise students to work hard to keep grades up because report cards come sooner than you think.

Mustangs React – Yay WAWA!

Robby Rodriguez -LRHS News

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The opening of the new WAWA gas station opening on the intersection of State Road 70 and Lorraine Road has been the talk of the school, with the new station providing everything from homemade cookies to computers that customize orders. For the first 10 days any size coffee or hot chocolate was free. The nearby gas station is filled with Mustangs before and after school.

Senior Nate Minic said, “What I enjoyed the most from WAWA was the free coffee they gave for the grand opening. But since they are no longer having that promotion I like the frapuccino and milkshakes.” Minic said he would rather leave the smoothies to the Smoothie King.

Junior Anthony Costanza  visits WAWA often because he lives near it.

“The cookie dough parfait is my all time favorite item their, and I wouldn’t choose it over anything else,” said Costanza . And with the convenience of WAWA, Costanza expects to benefit from it for a long time.

Sophomore Caitlyn Klein said, “Even though I live of State Road 64 my mom always picks me up my favorite two things from there, which is their paninis and their coffee. The first time I had their coffee I fell in love and knew that they chose a great location for the gas station.”

Freshman Jules Catena is genuinely excited to have WAWA nearby.

“I love the new location,” he said. “It is so close to me home, as well as the our high school. I can go ever so quickly to WAWA with my sister and get some coffee or something and I’m all set for the day.”

This WAWA is open 24 hours and is located on 14604 E State Road 70 Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202 United States.
