(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Ranch High School Girls Golf team is off to a solid start toward the state tournament after defeating Venice High School. The 9-hole round took place Aug. 25 at the River Club course. The Mustangs were led by sophomores Katie Kroos-Roberts and Theresa Morissey, both shooting a score of 38.
“The match was a good start to the season. I love my teammates and our biggest goal would definitely be making it to states,” said Roberts.
The LRHS boys team is also flourishing at the beginning of their season, as they finished with the winning score after facing Bradenton Christian and Manatee High Schools. The Mustangs ended the 9-hole game with a score of 150. Bradenton Christian followed closely behind with 160 shots, and lastly was Manatee with a 172.
PGA advanced professional Jon Bullas has taken over the three-time state champion boys team as head coach from Dave Frantz, who stepped down to spend more time with family. Bullas has many experiences in the sport. He is a certified U.S kids instructor as well as a golf fitness instructor and Titleist Club Fitter.
