(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Mustangs have one more chance to press snooze during the 2015-16 school year.  There was a lot of local debate and discussion about moving the start time for Manatee County high schools from 7:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. next school year.  There was also a lot of discussion of switching from a block schedule to the traditional seven-period day.

Principal Craig Little said school officials have decided that LRHS won’t change its schedule.  The 2015-16 schedule will be the same as this year’s.

The School Board decided to give high schools their choice of start time for the upcoming school year but Little said the option won’t fit LRHS’s needs.

Some Mustangs are already praising the decision.

“I am really glad that I won’t have to wake up earlier,” said freshman Nala Gato.

Some students say the consistency means a lot less stress.

“I was unaware that the schedule was remaining the same, I’m so happy,” said sophomore Chelsea Porter.

Little said he’s pleased with everyone’s effort through the 2014-15 school year.

“Thanks for remaining composed and professional during a year full of changes and always putting our students first,” Principal Craig Little said to the LRHS faculty members.
