(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The last LRHS blood drive of the school year is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, May 7.
This marks the end of a successful year of collections for the Mustangs.
“I’ve seen many new donors and I encourage as many people as I can to donate blood,” said LRHS blood drive coordinator and science teacher Maria Whalen.
“I liked donating blood because it saves lives,” said junior Matt Bell.
Whalen hopes to collect 100 units of blood. She recommended eating a healthy meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood. Whole grains, lean beef, dried fruits, and vegetables are just a small example of the foods to eat before donating blood.
