Mustang track getting ready for district foes

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Wednesday, April 15, the Mustang varsity track team will head to Clearwater High School for the FHSAA Class 3A District 10 championship track meet.

Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., including boys’ and girls’ long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, pole vault, and the discus throw.

11 a.m. marks the beginning of the running events, starting with the boys’ and girls’ 4×800 meter relay.

Eight runners from each event will advance to the final rounds, including the winner of each heat and and the next fastest times in each event. Events are the girls’ and boys’ 100/110 meter high and 300 meter low/intermediate hurdles, 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter dash, and the 4×100 meter relay.

The final rounds will begin at 4 p.m., along with the 400 meter, 1600 meter, and 3200 meter runs.

Head coach Mark Napier is hopeful that the team will do well.

“I never put the cart before the horse, ” he said. “We’ll be as ready as we can be. There should be a good showing on both fronts, boys and girls.”
