(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch Softball start the defense of their district championship today. The Lady Mustangs will play Braden River tonight at 7 at the ranch.
The tournament is single elimination, so it is crucial that the Mustangs win each game to advance in the post-season.
“I’m both nervous and excited for today’s game,” stated sophomore Mackenzie Meyer. “Braden River always puts up a good fight, but i believe in my team.”
Lakewood Ranch is the number one seed in the tournament, followed by Sarasota, Palmetto, and Braden River, and have a good feeling they can go all the way this year and call themselves state champions.
“We’ve been practicing hard everyday, and I have no doubt in these girls,” said head coach Maggie Feix. “I’m expecting a good fight, but we’ve defiantly got what it takes to win.”
