Active Mustangs getting ready for life’s next chapter

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the current school year begins to come to a close, most students are preparing for the next school year, while others prepare for the next phase of life. Some of LRHS’s most active seniors are ready to say goodbye, and this means moving on from the many activities they were involved in during high school.

Matt Roberts is moving on from Student Government Association (SGA), Technology Students Association (TSA), Lakewood Leaders, and finishing out his last year as a Lakewood Ranch baseball player.

“It’s going to be exciting starting a new chapter in my life but there are a lot of things that I am going to miss about high school,” he said.

Roberts plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University, play baseball, and get his degree in exercise science before going to grad school.

“What I am going to miss the most is going to school with friends I’ve grown up with my whole life and the teachers,” Roberts said.

Taylor Schilling will also have a lot to walk away from.

Taylor was in SGA, Junior Advisory Board, Senior Advisory Board, Lakewood Leaders, Mustangs for Christ, the school blood drive committee, Environmental Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and cheerleading, as well as being Junior Varsity cheer captain her sophomore year and Varsity cheer captain her senior year.

“I’m pretty sad but I am extremely excited for the future with college and future jobs,” she said.

In the fall Schilling plans to attend the University of Florida and major in business management.

“What I am going to miss the most is seeing all of my friends on a regular basis.”
