(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The weekend that Lakewood Ranch High School’s Key Club has waited for so long is soon here. On Thursday, 13 Mustangs will travel to Orlando for the Key Club District Convention.
Key Club is a student-led organization that focuses on teaching leadership through service to others. It is also the oldest and largest service program for high school students.
From April 9 -12 LRHS Key Club members demonstrate how many community service hours they have accumulated throughout the year and will have the opportunity to win awards for their hard work.
Key Club Adviser and LRHS science teacher Lisa Albano said the prospect for the convention is, “Exciting but nerve-wracking.
“There has been so much work put into this upcoming weekend; a lot of planning and paperwork and organizing. I’m pretty excited for them, though,” said Albano.
Albano’s goals at the convention consist of “showcasing how much they’ve grown.
“Last year, only five people got to go. This year we have 13.”
This is Albano’s first year as a Key Club adviser.
Meanwhile, on April 12, Key Club members not at the convention will be attending the Tour de Cure at the Lakewood Ranch Main Street for the American Diabetes Association.
