(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS HOSA club competed in the regional competitions at Manatee Technical Institute (MTI) Jan. 23 with many students participating in various competitions like Medical Spelling, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, Prepared Speaking, and Medical Reading.
Freshman Kailen Bender enjoyed her first time competing and won 3rd place in Prepared Speaking.
“I learned a lot from watching other students compete,” she said. “It was a really good experience and I know how to prepare myself better next time.”
Freshman Daniella Castrogioeava competed in Extenderous Health Poster and placed 2nd in her category.
“It was an intimidating experience since it was my first time competing and everyone else was older than me,” she said.
The club is now preparing for state competition March 26-29 at Disney’s Conorado Springs Resort. If the Mustangs are successful there they will head to California June 24-27 for the national competition at the Hilton in Anaheim, California.
HOSA is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education.
