(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Spring is here and LRHS track coaches and athletes are preparing for what they hope will be a successful season. Over 150 athletes have already signed up this year and more are expected to join. Track is one of the biggest teams at LRHS.

Track has over 10 different events. Students can participate in throwing events such as shot put or they can jump over hurdles, but most events are running events and relays. The team plans to attend 5-15 meets in the season.

The athletes enjoy meeting people and getting into shape, they also enjoy the wide variety of events to participate in. Coach Mark Napier oversees all events and training plans but focuses more closely on the high jump and long jump.

Sophomore Sam Jackson likes track because it is interesting and keeps him fit.

Junior Kailyn Scully said, “I like track because it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and the only thing standing between you and success is your own ability.”
